Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima, a former governor
of Zamfara state has been granted bail in the sum of N100 million and
two sureties who must have property worth N150 million in Gusau, the
state capital.

One of the sureties must be a resident within Gusau tow, Daily Trust reports.
Yerima was arraigned today, January 21 at a Federal High Court in Zamfara state led by Justice Bello Muhammad Shinkafi over a 19-count charge bordering on misappropriation of fund.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission had filed an 18-count charge of corruption against him.
The anti-graft agency accused Yerima, who amputated the wrist of a thief for stealing a goat, of diverting over N1 billion meant for the repair of collapsed Gusau Dam and the compensation of those to be displaced by the project for other purposes when he was governor of the state.
However, Yerima pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The court adjourned the case to February 29 for hearing.
The former governor is a member of the All Progressives Congress
representing Zamfara State in the the Senate. He was the first governor
in Nigeria to implement Sharia law in his state in its full entirety, a
move that sparked negative reactions especially from Christians in the
country.
