Manchester United owners the Glazer family
are set to sack club manager Louis Van Gaal after seeing their patience
tested to the limit with the clubs inspiring performances this season.
According to Daily Star UK, the Glazer’s are unhappy with the manner
in which United defeated Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup over
weekend.
Rooney
scored a 90th minute penalty to earn United a spot in the next round and registered only two shots in the whole game.
This decision comes after the owners privately backed Van Gaal and said he would not be sacked in Christmas.
It is believed that United’s games against Newcastle and Liverpool in the coming weeks could determine the Dutchman’s future as defeats in the two fixtures means a club exit.
“The players are bored, the fans are bored; everyone’s bored. The manager looks bored as well. Every time you come to Old Trafford you see this – negative football,” United great Paul Scholes said after the 1 – 0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Chief executive of main kit sponsor Adidas, Herbert Hainer was also critical of United.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the former English champions have engaged super-agent Jorge Mendes to broker a deal with Manchester United.
