It was the gathering of the high and mighty in the society as
the newly installed Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja
II) was presented with the staff of office and instrument
of appointment on December 7.
The event attracted prominent traditional rulers from all nook and
crannies to celebrate the new entrance into the fold of royal
fathers in
the country.
The politicians were not left out as three governors from the
southwest joined the host Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the historic
event that last took place 35-year ago when the new Ooni was only five
year old .
The royal fathers that was physically present were the Sultan of
Sokoto, Sa’adu Abubakar, Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu V,
Dein of Agbor Benjamin Ikechuku Keagborekuzi I, representative from
Edo, Delta, and many prominent traditional rulers from the southwest.
The vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo was on hand to grace the
occasion, as he represented President Muhammadu Buhari and again, as the
son of the soil; Governors Akinwunmi Ambode, Abiola Ajimobi, Ibikunle
Amosun, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress Senator
Bola Amhed Tinubu, former interim chairman of the APC, Bisi Akande,
former governors of Osun and Oyo states, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and
Christopher Alao-Akala.
The entrance to the venue of the event was well secured by the
combined team of police, men of the Department of State Services,
Nigerian Civil Defence Corp, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and
hefty looking private security men to prevent a breach of security.

Ooni
Ogunwusi was chosen on October 24 after a painstaking exercise by
kingmakers to choose the successor of the late Ooni,Ona Okunade Sijuade,
who died July 28, in a London hospital. He is a graduate of
accountancy from The Polytechnic, Ibadan. Prior to his ascension of the
throne of his ancestors, he was managing director of Howard Roark
Gardens Limited which is undertaking multi-million naira Jacob Mews
Estate project in Yaba and the Lakeview real estate development in
Lekki.
