In his days, Julius Aghahowa was one of the fastest strikers in the world.
The former striker hung the boots in April 2003 and after turning playing for the likes of Wigan Athletic, Bendel Insurance, and Espérance, Shakhtar Donetsk.
Nigerians would most likely remember him for scoring Nigeria’s only goal at the 2010 World Cup.
Followers of the game in the early 21st century would remember his back-flips which he used to celebrate after scoring goals.

1. He is Nigeria’s sixth highest goal scorer of all time with 14 goals in 32 appearances. He also has the third best goal ratio in national team history behind legends like Rashidi Yekini and Segun Odegbami.
2. His daughter Isabel released a book at the age of 13 titled ‘The Ellegers’ back in 2014. She is studying in the UK, and also a budding actress who has made a few appearances in a few Nollywood movies.

5. Aghahowa is one of many Nigerian footballers who has always been accused of being an age-cheat. He was reportedly a police officer before becoming a professional footballer.
