The Kano state government continues its war
on drugs as the sale and consumption of illicit drugs remains one of
major problems in the state.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is setting the drugs on fire.
The National Drugs
Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recently stated that youths in the state were still leading in the drug abuse index of the agency for the whole country.
Reviewing the year 2015 activities in the state, Alhaji Ahmadu Garba, the state NDLEA director, revealed that the agency arrested 676 offenders while 214 people were standing trials at various courts in the state.
On Monday, January 4, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje led a team to the NDLEA office where they burnt illegal drugs and expired food items.

Ganduje’s predecessor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso and his administration were
also determined to get rid of all kinds of fake drugs and adulterated
food items in the state.
Last year, the Kano state government destroyed drugs worth N315, 383, 437,64 at Mariri on the outskirts of Kano city.
