Egypt will file a complaint to CAF against referee
Antoine Essouma, who officiated their Group B match against Nigeria in
the U-23 African Cup of Nations.
Nigeria played a 2 – 2 draw with the Pharaohs. Oghenekaro
Etebo converted two penalties in quick succession for handball decisions
in the first half but the Pharaohs equalised early in the second half
with two quick goals
of their own.
The Egyptians are filing a complaint against the referee for
giving a penalty due to a handball but replays showed it hit a
defender’s knee.
According to kingfut.com, Egyptian FA board member Hamada Al Masry
the complaint will be filed due to “wrong decisions” by the referee
during the encounter.
Egypt are third in group B with two points and will take on Mali on
Saturday while second on the table Nigeria on four points take on
Algeria in the final group game.
Egypt must win to stand a chance of qualifying for the semi-final of the U-23 Cup of Nations.
